Good morning!

I woke up this morning with a song stuck in my head from a brand new artist named Lore’l, “Too Pretty.”

Now, I eff’s with this song heavy.

Well, let me rewind and tell you about the song to help you understand where I am coming from.

In a nutshell, the song is about growing up and constantly being told you are “too pretty” to do sh**.
Lore’l ain’t having that because “ain’t shit pretty” and, quite frankly, she’ll do as she pleases with that pretty face whether you think she should or should not.

For these reasons, I like this song a lot.

Growing up, I was sort of a bookworm and I read in class, during recess, at lunch etc. So, my classmates thought I was too pretty/nerdy to speak Ebonics, to like D-Block, to try and freestyle, etc and that sh** was wack to me. I used to get into arguments all the time defending my taste in music or my slip in grammar because they’d try and say “what you know about D-Block?” or “why you talking like that tryna be ghetto?” and I blame these darn dimples for giving me a hard time in the ‘hood.

So, I’m jamming to this “Too Pretty” record thinking of how I relate and how much I agree with Lore’l “ain’t shit pretty.”
